Called Chinook salmon in Oregon and Washington and Kings in Alaska this is the largest of the pacific salmon. Known for their incredible stamina and power these fish are the main target of our fall fishing season. While it is common for these fish to reach up to thirty five pounds, and few true monsters grow to fifty pounds and above, even the fight of a 20 pound fish can leave your arms shaking and your heart racing. Kings are down and dirty fighters that will pull on you just as hard as you pull on them and tangle up and break off in the first snag they can find. Their strong runs will test out the best reels and trying to turn a thirty plus pound fish before he can get in a tidewater root wad or tree that has fallen in the river has been the end of many a fishing rod. However in the end it may be the flavorful fillets that draw as many people as the sport that they provide.

Having fished for kings in both Oregon and Alaska for many seasons has made me a well rounded fisherman, experienced at finding kings in both fresh and saltwater out of a drift boat or jet boat. While there are many different techniques used to target these amazing fish I have the knowledge to help you learn to put fish in the boat
